Paris-Brest-Paris
It would appear from the Audax UK website and FFCT PBP start list that I'm the only club member taking part this time.
Paris-Brest-Paris is older than the Tour de France. I'll have 90 hours to complete the 1,230km (765miles) course (including sleeping/ eating/ stopping time). It's held every 4 years. To qualify, I had to complete brevets of 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km within specified time limits. To prepare, I've ridden more than 10,200km (6,300miles) so far this year.
I start at 9pm (french time) on Sunday. It's the biggest ride of my life, I'm more nervous than anything I've ever done before. Who knows what will fail first, my knees, my backside or my resolve.
I'll be posting my progress on twitter (@fboab)- fat bird on a bike
If you'd like to follow me, or any of the other 5220 riders from around the world, you can do so on the PBP website. http://www.paris-brest-paris.org/pbp2011/index2.php?lang=en&cat=randonnee&page=suivi_participants
My rider # 6907.
