Espresso (Sunday)

Sunday ‘Expresso’ Club Run as the name suggests is the quickest and longest WSW Club Ride. The group meet outside the ex. Woolworths store in the Cornhill at 9 a.m. every Sunday. The route varies weekly depending on weather conditions and the suggestions of the group. The group regularly cover over 55 miles at an average 18mph with a sprint at the end when in sight of the Bury St Edmunds sign (not mandatory!) After about 30 miles everything stops for tea and cake or baked beans if that is your particular passion at one of the regions coffee shops or cafes. If you're going to drop someone in the final 20 miles, it's probably best not to choose the one person best equipped to get his own back. Fortunately, I'm a reasonable man. For instance, I never refer to the time that Neil rode away when I had a puncture in the first ten of a two hundred K audax - and I will, eventually, put the latter part of Sunday's ride behind me too.

Eight of us left the Cornhill this morning on a mission to find the Specialities Tea Rooms in Stisted; subject of a full page feature in Cycling Plus by Roger St Pierre.

19th July. Some threatening cloud, some sunshine and a bucket of rain at the end. Wind brisk, south westerly. As holidays take their toll, I guess we may be getting into leaner times on the attendance front. Still, ten is a decent number. We were: Adi, Deane, Graham Smith (apologies Graham, for calling you Geoff throughout the ride) 'John' who is a neighbour of Graham, Justin, Hugh, Erin, Julian, Paul Callow and Me.

Sunday 12 July, Club Run to Newmarket

We set off from Bury at 0900 hours on a route through Westley Road, Little Saxham, eastwards to Stetchworth and then a tea stop at Newmarket. We headed back through Red lodge, Cavenham, Risby and returned to Bury about 12:45
