Pilates is back!
Well, I’m sad to say that summer is almost behind us and Autumn is knocking at the door...... The summer bikes are set for hibernation... But all is not lost!!!! The good news is that pilates is back!!!!
For those of you who haven’t already indulged in this essential part of every cyclist’s (and non-cyclist’s) pathway to fitness, including improved posture, flexibility, core strength, balance, realignment and general wellbeing.... need I go on?! Pilates really is a MUST!
If you missed the ‘letters’ page in CYCLING WEEKLY of April 8th let me quote the letter of the week....
“PILATES POWER”
“I remember reading in Cycling Weekly that we cyclists are more than happy to spend shedloads of cash on the latest go-faster super lightweight widget in the pursuit of speed, but are completely averse to spending anything at all on our bodies - me too, guilty as charged!
A couple of months ago, however, I had to go to my sports physio/osteopath because of increasing pain in my hips. She quickly sorted me out in the short term, but recommended that I tried Pilates if I wanted continued relief in the long term . I went to my local sports centre who said that I had to enrol on the six session beginners course first at the cost of £36. From the first session, I was absolutely hooked and after just four sessions I feel more supple and have considerably better posture/core strength.
But it’s on the bike where I have really noticed the difference thanks to improved muscle balance and I already feel so much more efficient, particularly on the hills whenever i get out of the saddle. Rocking hips and zig-zagging? Hopefully a thing of the past. It was the best £36 i ever spent.
David Rowe. Sotonia CC”
Don’t just take David’s word for it, come along and try it for yourself! You don’t even need to go to a leisure centre...Pilates is coming to you :-)
Courses starting on Monday 4th October.
