The club hosted an afternoon of grass track racing at Hardwick Middle School, Bury St Edmunds. The sun shone most of the time and there was only a few spits of rain. But the track had had a good drenching the day before and was spongy and with a strong wind blowing it was hard going for the riders.

By Fergus Muir Spectators basked in sunshine as they lined Ixworth High Street for an afternoon of cycle racing promoted by Bury club West Suffolk Wheelers on Bank Holiday Monday. The red vests of children who take part in the club’s Tuesday evening Go-Ride cycle training at Priory School were prominent among those watching the quick-fire sequence of eight races run off in perfect conditions. |

Under grey skies, with the threat of rain and in a stiff south westerly wind PETER BALLS of the promoting WEST SUFFOLK WHEELERS covered the 2-lap circuit based on Risby in just 48m 19s to take a convincing victory. With supporting performances by DALE STURMAN (52m 35s) and PAUL ROOKE (55m 24s), WEST SUFFOLK WHEELERS lifted the TEAM PRIZE, making a brilliant start to the season for the BURY St EDMUNDS - based Club.
