FUNDING NEWS
We have heard from The Havebury Housing Authority that the £5,000 grant they made us towards the building of our own clubroom has been extended to October 2010. This grant was originally planned to expire (if not used) in January, but we have explained the difficulties we have encountered in raising the balance of the funds needed. We now have nine months in which to make a reality of this aim. The issues around this matter will be discussed and debated in full at the Special General Meeting that has been called for January 11th. All members will receive a notice of this meeting, and we ask for a full attendance.
Meantime, the £4,850 grant we received from The Suffolk Foundation is reported in their Annual Report. This grant enabled us to buy computer-aided training equipment which we have so far not been able to use. The kit is currently in storage, and the aim is to install it in the Clubroom, where it could be used by adult members and youngsters, including pupils from Priory School.
Helen Ballam has also reported that our name change to West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club will not cause a problem for our continued accreditation to Club Mark status. This is important to us in various ways, particularly in being recognised by public bodies such as St Edmundsbury and Suffolk County Councils and various funding bodies.
