A second speaker! Paul Kimmage will also be coming to Bury St Edmunds to give a talk on his experiences as a pro cyclist and as a journalist
In February 2010 Lawrence Dallaglio will start his ride from Rome heading to Edinburgh via ea
ch of the 6 nation rugby stadiums. The duo will be joining Lawrence in Paris to ride into Twickenham on the 26th February ahead of the England v Ireland game. The challenge is not just riding the rolling 450km route over 4 days but doing it in the cold, damp winter weather of February.
Another major undertaking for us is to raise money for money for Sports Relief and the charities supported by the Dallaglio foundation (Debra, Help for Heroes and Leukaemia research)
So to help raise money for this event they are pleased and excited to announce that James Bowthorpe, the man who recently shattered the World Record for cycling around the world, will be coming to Bury St Edmunds on 19th January 2010. The evening will be a chance to hear first hand about the challenges James faced in his quest to cycle round the world and how he broke the world record by some 4 weeks.
Tickets for this unique opportunity are £10 and can be booked by completing the order form and returning it to: James Eastwood, Greene King Destination Pubs, Abbot House, Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1QW
The Location of the Event will be the Greene King Social Club, Cullum Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1QT.
Also taking place in this evening will be an auction of various autographed cycling items from such cyclist as Sir Chris Hoy, Sean Yates, the Great Britain Cycling Team and other sport and fitness related offerings. A full list will be emailed out to those who purchase tickets ahead of the event.
The evening will start at 7 p.m. and is expected to finish by 10pm at the end of the auction.
