Ixworth Cycle Races 2010
These races aimed at riders of all ages and abilities, are now established as East Anglia’s premier day of circuit races.![]()
Held on the first Bank Holiday in May, it has consistently produced fast exciting racing, close finishes with often the need for the photo to decide the places.
The course, a 800 meter approx circuit, centred in the village of Ixworth is quite demanding and a good test of riders abilities. Race winners will need to have good speed backed up by good bike handling skills and the will to be first over the line.
This is very evident in the childrens races, which often produces the most competitive races and the most enthusiastic crowd of spectators and Mums & Dads.
For the adults there is the new two race format which features an individual category race, followed by an invitational race at the end of the day.
These invitational races will be made up of race winners and E/1/2 riders in Race “A”; with other riders in to Race “B”. These races will be 40 to 50 mins respectively plus 5 laps.
If you rode last year or in previous years I hope you enjoyed your day with us at Ixworth and look forward to seeing you there again this year.
Adrian Grimwood ~ Event co-ordinator

Training Weekend in the Lincolnshire Wolds - 27 & 28 MARCH
We are looking at hiring two holiday cottages on a farm at Hemingby, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. They are large adjoining cottages set in a great location. Each cottage would comfortably sleep five people, and there is a nice pub within walking distance that does good food. The cost of each cottage is £100 a night - so that's a reasonable £20 per person (based on full occupancy). The location would be perfect for the training weekend a 50% deposit has been paid.
We have 5 or 6 spaces remaining so if you are interested please contact Justin Wallace
To see the cottages click the link http://www.bainvalleycottages.co.uk/
To navigate around the website just run the arrow over the top section of the home page to bring up the links to the picture pages etc, which aren't apparent otherwise.

Race Training Sessions start Tuesday March 30
The clocks change on March 27 and we need to make the most of the early summer evenings, so we are planning a short series of training sessions for those riders aiming to tackle road, circuit or track racing this season. This includes youngsters with plans to race and adult riders new to these disciplines, but we also need some experienced riders to help and gain some benefit themselves. We will divide up into groups to suit all abilities and will concentrate on short, sharp efforts, cornering, riding close to others, ‘following a wheel’ and chain gang techniques.
We will hold these at and around Denny Bros service yard, Kempson Way and will start very promptly at 6pm, (please plan to arrive at 5.45), approx one hour duration.
We plan to run these sessions for five consecutive weeks; that will bring us up to the Ixworth Circuit Races (Mon 3rd May), so you’ll hopefully be ready to enter, or at the very least understand the efforts being made by those who have!
