DHL Stanton vs DHL Thetford

DHL at the Time Trial - who will deliver first!
With a huge 'green agenda' - DHL currently have significant focus on cycling to work and numerous cycling events for charity have been staged by various depots.
On Wednesday 14th July, five members of DHL Thetford will start a charity ride from John O Groats to Lands End. As such, an appropriately large amount of training miles have been undertaken in way of preparation. With a couple of West Suffolk Wheelers working at DHL Stanton, there was clearly an interest in this ride and before long, reports of impressive cycling endeavours were being communicated between both sites.
However, not knowing which site were the keenest and fastest cyclists was a real problem and one which had to be resolved. Thankfully, the West Suffolk Wheelers agreed to come to the rescue and set the record straight. The stage was set for a show down - the venue was to be the West Stow 10mile TT. Both sites would field their five fastest riders and the winners would be the team with the lowest total time. There was just the one prize for winning; pride.

The event was enjoyed hugely by all and has really helped raise the profile of cycling at both depots. Full details are going into the regional newsletters and an article will be submitted for possible inclusion into the national DHL publication. It hasn't given Thetford the winning start they hoped to make to their mammoth cycle ride - but they can (perhaps justifiably) argue that they've been training for endurance rather than speed.
Massive thanks must go to the West Suffolk Wheelers for permitting local DHL scores to be settled in such a fair and professional way!
